There has been an infection amongst bats in North America, as well as, Europe. Four types bats ( Indiana, little brown, cave, and the gray) have been found with an epidemic in North America, and five types have been infected in Europe. White-nose syndrome (WNS) is taking over these already endangered animals. WNS thrives in humid and low temperatures, like up North (Canada, New York state). WNS gives the bat a white nose, irrational behavior, and causes them to wake up during hibernating season. When they wake up during hibernation, it causes them to burn up energy usually stored for winter, it also causes the bats to fly during the day, which is dangerous.
I find this increadably sad that the bats are dying. Yet, I find it interesting that scientists are considering humans as hosts for this fungal infection. I wonder if there is any vaccination for humans, so we do not transmit it to the bats. As stated in the article, the health of bats should be monitored more closely. If their health is more carefully charted, perhaps we could find a cure for this, moreover a way to prevent it.
i already did this oneeeee
