This article is about an experiment to see if the rising obseity level is hitting not only humans, but animals too. A group of researchers that were lead by Yann Klimentidis from the University of Alabama, put up a test to find whether animal obesity rates are close to human obesity rates. The team did some research and found information on over 20,000 animals in 24 populations over eight different species. The species included cats, dogs, mice, and a couple different types of monkeys. For each of the populations Klimentidis looked at the weight with an age that was close to 35 years old in human terms. Then he found an average weight and obesity level. The test showed a large increase of bodyweight in 11 out of the 24 populations. Then other 13 showed increase as well, but not anything as signifigant as the 11. Just the fact that all the numbers were increased is signifigant to the study.
Well, I think that this is crazy. I mean not only is our society one of the fastest ever, now our animals are becoming large. I think we really need to step it up and look out for ourselves because what were coming to now is kind of repulsive. This study should open the eyes to our world that we need to fix something because an increase in the weights of animals is certainly not a good sign at all. In my opinion the fast food chain should be slowed by immense amounts. Also, people in general should just take steps to become healthier and not end up the fattest generation in history. That would be embarrassing.
