Facebook Users More Prone to Developing Eating Disorders, Study Finds

The University of Haifa found a new study, which shows that the more time young girls spend on Facebook, the more chances they have of having eating disorders. These eating disorders could be ones such as anorexia, bulimia, and exaggerated dieting. This study was done with a group of 248 girls ages 12-19. The girls were asked how much they watched t.v and how much they spend online. They were also asked the number of popular shows related to physical images, such as the perfect Barbie image. Also, they filled out a survey of their outlook on slimming down, eating, satisfaction, and personal things. Results showed that the more time that younger girls spend on Facebook, the more they suffered eating disorders such as bulimia, anorexia, physical dissatisfaction, negative self-image, etc.
I believe that this article is wrong. I do agree with it in some ways, but in other ways I disagree because it doesn't make complete sense. People who sit around are more, are prone to eat more, not less. Also, people who sit around are more likely to gain weight because they are not getting any exercise. I do agree with this article some because people do look online (girls more then boys) and see body figures that they would like to have. With this happening, girls can start having eating disorders. But, this article just doesn't make complete sense to me. I think people should get off Facebook and live their lives right!
