In most science fiction films the sky is normally presented with two suns. But how would a planet survive with that much sun light without effecting it in a way? Jack O'Malley-James of the University of St. Andrews has studied what plants might look like on a Earth-like planet with two or three suns. He found the plants would have a black or dark grey color. He also found that the temperature of the star would determine the color of the plants as well, such as, the color used for photosynthesis.
At first when I read this article I wasn't sure what to think. I thought it seemed kind of silly to start a research based of what you saw in movies. But then as I thought more about it the research found about photosynthesis gives us some insight. It keeps us reminded of why we only have one sun. It's at least good to have a answer now, rather than hearing "just because" all the time. This research is very insightful and I think it is a good addition to the science world.
