Scientists have reported the discovery of a protein in the blood of a lung cancer patient that could be used in tests for the disease and to develop drugs that prevent lung cancer from spreading. The scientist understood how difficult it was to diagnose a patient of lung cancer when it was in the early stages. So to find a better diagnostic tool the researchers studied the proteins in the blood of lung cancer patients in search of some kind of signal to show the diseases presence. The scientist studied the most rapidly increasing form on lung cancer in women called adenocarcinoma and found elevated levels of a certain protein that would only exist in adenocarcinoma patients. This showed the high amounts of SSA that are unique to all lung cancers, signally the difference between the patient with the disease and a healthy patient without it.
I think that these tests are a great advance for lung cancer patients. The researches have found an extraordinary discovery of the protein in the patients blood, the protein could be used as a diagnostic marker for lung cancer as a target for developing drugs that stop the spread. Lung cancer is difficult to diagnose in the earliest stages and because of this study Doctors may have the ability to diagnose lung cancer in a much earlier stage. Scientist have noted that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related deaths worldwide. A huge reason to why the cancer is so deadly is because of its tendency to spread to different parts of the body, such as the brain or the liver. In result, these tests are very beneficial for the life of the lung cancer patient and the study of the scientist.
