New Targeted Drug Helps Smokers Quit

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110317115358.htm

The Academy of Finlands Research Program has been striving to create a drug for the use of smokers to help them quick. The new drug slows down the metabolism of nicotine, which would help smokers cut down the number of cigarettes they smoke. They have found that nicotine is absorbed rapidly through the lining of the mouth but most is absorbed in the lungs. The nicotine then goes into the brain. Once the nicotine reaches the liver, it is metabolised by an enzyme called CYP2A6. The enzyme can help smokers curb the need to smoke.

I think this drug is a great discovery. I think that this may be the best plan for anyone who wants to stop smoking. The new opportunities are advancing from a patch to a pill and going from outward help to internal help. This gives smokers the opportunity to live a healthier more efficient life. In the end, this pill will be a relaxing therapy to smokers who have the urge to quit.
