Food Detector

Article

This article explains the newly found study on a hormone believed to enhance the sense of smell. The hormone is made in the stomach and causes the body to detect food easier in their environment. The study also shows that not eating for a while enhances the production of this hormone (Ghrelin). They believe it's one of our many built in survival tactics, designed to help us locate food, the theory is that it even helps a person determine the nutritional benefits as well.

I think this is amazing. It comes as no surprise to me that our bodies have this ability. In times when food was scarce this would have been a very vital process. It's amazing that we do this all without knowing it. It's interesting because this might some day be able to aid in weight lost techniques if used correctly.
