Study: Algae could replace 17 percent of US oil imports

Algae, as scientists find out, can be used to replace much of the oil imported into the U.S. Since creating biofuels requires much water, this technique hasn't been widely used so far. New discoveries have found that biofuels can be created from algae, while using less water. The biofuel is obtained from the lipids in the algae and is extracted and refined. By using this biofuel, less greenhouse gases would be released into the atmosphere, causing better conditions for the ozone.

Gas and fossil fuels, as they are, seem like a big problem to our atmosphere. The more we can make this number dwindle, the safer the atmosphere, environment, and wildlife would be. Also, since a lot of our oil is imported, it would give our economy a small boost if it becomes popular. The means of obtaining the oil, too, isn't a great thing for the environment. It can harm living plants and animals living near the machines. Using biofuels from algae is a beneficial way of powering the machines of our day.
