An Alzheimer's vaccine in a nasal spray

Summary: Researchers are working on a vaccine that promises to protect against both Alzheimer's and stroke. The vaccine repairs vascular damage in the brain by gathering "troops" from the body's immune system. Dr. Frenkel says, "using part of a drug that was previously tested as an influenza drug, we've managed to successfully induce an immune response against amyloid proteins in the blood vessels. Dr. Frenkel believes that this approach, when applied to humans test, will be able to prevent the downward health spiral of Alzheimer's and dementia. So far there have been no signs of toxicity in animals, and Dr. Frenkel is hopeful that this new approach could lead to a cure.

Opinion: The reseach Dr. Frenkel is doing is a very good thing. Many people i know have been effected by  this disease and have had to deal with the pain of their loved one not remembering them. If there was even talk of a cure then i'd be all for it. Since there haven't been any toxic effects on animals then we should proceed and try the cure on humans. I enjoyed this current event alot because i could relate to the topic.
