Information:
The "Egyptian Jackal", which was commonly confused with the golden jackal has now been proved to be related to the Holarctic grey wolf, the Indian wolf, as well as the Himalayan wolf. Genetically similar specimens to the new species were found in Ethiopia, which is a good 2,500 kilometers away. This astonishing news could mean that the species is not only found in Egypt, suggesting that there is a possibility that this wolf can be found between Egypt and Ethiopia. Many biological questions are rising up, questioning how this wolf evolved and lived alongside golden jackals, and Ethiopian wolves.
Opinion:
As for my opinion, I am alongside these scientists who are questioning how this news species evolved to live alongside this relatively different species of wolf, and the very different species of jackal. I'm ecstatic that that a new species of wolf has been discovered. I'm also surprised that this species has been living under our nose all this time, and we never even noticed. I'm hoping more biological discoveries, such as this one, can be found in the near future.
