Bubonic Plague back!?

This article states that the Bubonic Plague that killed off millions of people back in the late 1800's may be back and threatening western wildlife. The animal victims so far have only been the Utah prairie dog and the black-footed ferret; one of the most endangered mammals in North America. Bubonic Plague is highly contagious and if contracted can be deadly if not treated soon enough. But a wildlife biologist claims that the plague can be contained to only affect the prairie dogs and the ferrets of course (prairie dogs are the ferrets foodsource). The detection of plague may be very difficult to notice due to the animals' "black spots" may be hard to notice.

My opinion of this is I really hope that the scientists of today are able to stop the plague or cure it, if contracted in humans. I read another article stating that even a died-off animal off the plague can still spread it with ease if touched or inhaled the air around the victim. There is a story in this article saying that a zookeeper contracted the plague from an infected cougar who had died, therefore sayin how contagious the disease. The bubonic plague is no laughing matter and if not dealt with may spread back to humans as was back in ancient times. This concludes my article. Thanks for reading :)
