Antarctic Krill

http://www.macroevolution.net/antarctic-krill.html

Krill is a main food source for many animals in the Arctic. We, humans, also harvest them for various health reasons. In past years, the krill population has fluctuated, but recently it has come to a stable stop. A recent study has shown that there is a considerably large amount of biomass in the water near the shores of Livingston Island, compared to off-shore. Due to this, the on-shore fishing of krill has become a problem. A new law has been put into effect immediately- off-shore fishing only (for krill).

I think that the law was a good idea. I would rather us humans suffer (not catching as many krill as we would like to), as opposed to us overfishing and destroying their ecosystem. Then, we would have a much bigger problem than not enough krill for our health oils and such. I hope the population will continue to rise at a steady increase. Hopefully, that would secure the krill "race", as well as, other types of fish.
