Giant 771 lbs Stingray!

Link: http://www.macroevolution.net/giant-stingray.html

Summary: This article tells about a giant stingray weighing 771 pounds being caught in Thailand. Although the picture is real, the weight might not be. Zeb Hogan from the University of Reno, Nevada said that the fish was never actually weighed so there is no way to tell if it's a record breaker or not. Hogan and his team of researchers did estimate that the giant freshwater fish weighs between 550-770 lbs. The fish was caught by a local volunteer angler Ian Welch from a boat using a rod and reel and was caught a second time approximately 4 kilos from the original spot. This find could mean that the stingray population is smaller then previously believed.

Opinion: I think that the stingray caught and tagged for this article definitely looks like it could weigh 771 pounds! I never thought that freshwater stingrays could become so massive. It would be so cool to actually see that fish, and maybe compared to the size of a shark. The real weight should be recorded in my opinion to prove or disprove that the fish is the biggest in the book.
