Reserchers have found that dinosaurs had thick layers of cartilage in between there joints, which means they may have been taller than people believe. Dinosaurs long bones which include the Femur and Tibia, are rounded and rough. Indicating that very thick cartiliages formed inbetween these bones. Brachiasaurus, may have been 10 percent taller or more. We believed they were 42 feet tall. with the additional cartilage they could have been 52 feet or more higher! knowing how much cartilage was lost can help us restore the structure of a living dinosaur bone. which can therefore help us learn more about their live and how they moved.
Mammels, including humans have small protrusins at the end of each bone that help it connect with another bone. Knowing that similar mammals, or reptiles have the same build up just with either similar or larger bones is amazing. Also with cartilage making them taller, makes some people wonder if us, humans could possibly have that kind of cartilage in between our bones. Most of our "common day dinosaurs" like the alligator and ostriches have rough surfaces on their bones and larger cartilaginous strutures in the joint. Both similar to dinosaur bones.
